On matchday 36 of the Liga BBVA, FC Barcelona visit a Real Sociedad side who arrive with their homework done and with nothing at stake on their list of targets. The San Sebastian side still have the motivation of taking something positive from the Camp Nou and getting an away win against the leaders. The leaders cannot afford to take their foot off the gas and need their points to stay ahead of Real Madrid who are second.

Team News

The French defender Jérémy Mathieu is not in the azulgrana squad due to injury niggle to his Achilles heel, but he will be replaced by Thomas Vermaelen, who will enjoy his first start game in the Liga BBVA. The news for the txuri-urdin squad will be Sergio Canales who is returning to the squad, as confirmed by the manager David Moyes. Furthermore, Mikel González will also be available after the Appeal Committee rescinded the red card he received against Athletic Club.

Thoughts from the dugout

The game earlier in the season ended with a 1-0 win for Real Sociedad and with that in the background, both sides are aware of the importance of a game like this one. "They are one of the few sides who have beaten us. From that day onwards, we have managed to do very well", stated the FC Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique.

The txuri-urdin manager David Moyes will also be remembering the first game in order to motivate his men. "We beat them at Anoeta. We can do it again. In football there are surprises. I want to play well and defend well at the Camp Nou", he stated.
