Sides set their stalls out
Real Sociedad came out intent on claiming all three points, whilst Levante UD preferred to sit back and hit the hosts on the break. La Real sought to get the ball out wide and swing crosses in, although a lack of players breaking into the box meant that the visitors' backline were able to comfortably deal with the home side's attacks.
Diego Reyes opens the scoring
Yuri Berchiche's surging runs down the left flank began to become a feature and when an over hit corner came all the way through to him, he drove to the by-line before playing it into Diego Reyes who fired home from close range to put the hosts 1-0 up.
Deyverson on target again
Just as he had done in midweek in the Real Madrid game, the Brazilian forward was amongst the goals again here. Against Los Blancos he gave his side some hope when he reduced Real Madrid's two-goal advantage and this time he was on hand to restore parity against Real Sociedad. A Levante corner was headed away by a La Real defender and it fell to Deyverson who didn't need a second invitation to head the ball right back to where it had come from and into the net.
La Real pour forward
The Basques, who were the more adventurous of the two sides throughout, went all out in search of a winner and Bruma came close to clinching victory on two occasions. Firstly, after a neat exchange he found himself with only Diego Mariño to beat and later on he dragged his effort wide after a sublime Carlos Vela pass left him looking odds-on to score.
