Real Madrid 5-1 Legia Warsaw

Zinedine Zidane’s side made it eight consecutive home wins in the Champions League with a comfortable victory over their Polish visitors. Gareth Bale cut in off the right flank and fired in his first goal in Europe this season early on and it was quickly followed by a deflected effort from Marcelo.

Legia struck back almost immediately when Mirolsav Radovic netted from the penalty spot but the outcome was never really in doubt. Marco Asensio scored from Cristiano Ronaldo’s layoff for his debut Champions League goal before the break. Substitutes Lucas Vazquez, with a thunderous volley, and Alvaro Morata, from another Ronaldo layoff, rounded off the scoring in the second half.

Dinamo Zagreb 0-1 Sevilla FC

Like Madrid, Sevilla made it seven points from a possible nine with a hard-fought win in Croatia. Jorge Sampaoli’s men dominated but only had one goal to show for their superiority, a well-worked team effort finished off from close range by Sami Nasri just before halftime. Nasri and Luciano Vietto missed opportunities to settle the nerves after the break, but the Europa League champions held firm to keep a third consecutive clean sheet in the competition.
