Rayo Vallecano and Valencia CF watched as chances passed by and drew 1—1 on matchday 34 of the Liga BBVA, in a game where Nuno Espírito Santo’s side looked for more in the second half following a first half controlled by the home side.

Both sides aimed to attack and fought for the ball but the opening minutes lacked shots. In the 19’ minute, a shot from Adrián Embarba and an error from Diego Alves led to a goal for the Vallecas side. The game changed from that moment onwards as Paco Jémez’ men moved up the pitch and Valencia put on less pressure and were left with less belief.

After half-time, Valencia took a while to get into the game, however the captain Dani Parejo turned the game around within a few minutes. He gave a first warning with a long distance shot that went over, and ended up finding the equaliser with a direct free-kick in the 66’ minute. The match turned crazy with several attacks and saves from both goalkeepers. However, the game ended with scores even and Rayo and Valencia had to content themselves with a draw that does nothing for either side’s aims. Valencia remain in fourth, due to goal difference with Sevilla FC and Rayo are now on 42 points.
