The Basque club’s injury absentees for the game include Andoni Iraola, Ibai Gómez and Iker Muniain, while the suspended Unai Bustinza also misses out. For the visitors, Cezary Wilk and Juan Domínguez are injured and will be unavailable.

"We want to defend the position we’re in, all the more so bearing in mind how hard we’ve had to work for it," said Athletic boss Valverde. "Deportivo can’t afford to play it safe in terms of the result; they’ll come here to put pressure on us". Meanwhile, Deportivo player Lucas Pérez discussed the importance of the clash: "It’s a vital match for us. It’s a cup final. We’re eager to win at San Mamés and that’s what we’re going there for: the victory. No other result will do us."
