Valencia CF beat Levante UD 2-0 in the Valencian derby on matchday 18 of the Liga BBVA. Thanks to goals from Pablo Piatti and Sofiane Feghouli, one in each half, Juan Antonio Pizzi had an unforgettable debut in charge of the ché.
After a tight start to the game, Valencia picked up the pace towards the end of the first half, resulting in its first goal. Following a great move from Feghouli, whose shot went over the bar when the clock read 38, Piatti scored the first goal of the match on the brink of half-time. It was the Argentinian's second goal in the Liga BBVA and it came as he latched onto a clearance from the granota defence and beat Keylor Navas with a powerful left-footer.
Feghouli was the clear star of the second half and the Algerian was again Valencia's most active player after the break. It was his goal that clinched the victory after 73 minutes of play. After a eye-pleasing individual move, the 24-year-old midfielder scored with a subtle flick over the visiting goalkeeper to put the icing on the cake of Valencia's victory.
