Valencia CF beat RC Deportivo 2-0 in the opening game of matchday 27 of the Liga BBVA. Thanks to goals from Dani Parejo (penalty) and Paco Alcácer Los Che move to third in the division and will be eagerly awaiting to see how Atlético Madrid get on in their clash against RCD Espanyol on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Galicians remain in 16th in the table.

Valencia took the initiative at the beginning of the encounter, threatening early on through a Rodrigo Moreno effort that Fabricio Agosto had to save in the 5th minute. The Deportivo keeper proved pivotal again shortly afterwards when he prevented Álvaro Negredo from opening up the scoring on two separate occasions. The visitors however had the clearest chance of the game just before half time through Iván Cavaleiro, but Nicolás Otamendi kept the Portuguese striker from scoring.

Nuno Espírito Santo's charges got their reward after the restart. In the 61st minute, following another Negredo chance a few moments earlier, Parejo made it 1-0 by converting a penalty kick. Despite Deportivo’s valiant efforts to get an equaliser, Paco Alcácer shored things up for the home side by finishing off a great pass from Sofiane Feghouli to double Valencia’s lead to 2-0.
