CA Osasuna picked up three points that are vital for keeping alive its hopes of staying in the division by beating UD Almería 1-2 on matchday 32 of the Liga BBVA. Oriol Riera and Alejandro Arribas gave their side its first victory in six matches before Fernando Soriano cut the deficit fifteen minutes from the final whistle.
After a cagey opening from both teams, Osasuna started to dominate the match and soon had the lead. Oriol Riera, who has now scored eleven goals in the Liga BBVA, beat Esteban after receiving the ball in the area. The visitors, despite withdrawing a little, doubled their lead through Alejandro Arribas before half-time.
The break did little to change the dynamic of the game and it was not until the final stages of the match that the home team cut the deficit through Soriano, who latched on to a loose ball in the box. The goal lifted Francisco Rodríguez’s team, who went in search of an equaliser. And they nearly found it, but Soriano’s header was just wide of its mark and the side from Navarre took three points home that allow them to momentarily leave the relegation zone.
