FRI 24.04.2015

This week on matchday 35 of the Liga Adelante , what promises to be an interesting game will take place between CD Tenerife and RCD Mallorca.

The two sides are in the lower middle half on the table on 39 points, and both also have a single key player who could swing the hard-fought game in their favour. So, Tenerife will be placing their trust in the good run of form enjoyed by 'Maxi' Pérez, while the striker Francisco Jiménez 'Xisco' will be the key man for Miquel Soler’s side.

Both forwards are enjoying their best period of form with their respective teams. The Argentinian, aged 28 , arrived in Spain in summer, however he did not have the backing of his first manager at Tenerife, Álvaro Cervera. Following the arrival of Raúl Agné, Maxi got his place in the starting line-up on matchday 27, and since then, he has not changed his role in the side. His new position, with more freedom in attack and less leaning towards the wing, has made him a key figure along with Diego Ifrán. He has scored four goals and played a total of 1,053 minutes.

Xisco has had an even better run at Mallorca. The player, who is the same age as Maxi, arrived at the Balearic Island side on loan from Córdoba CF, where he did not find a place in the Liga BBVA. Now, the forward is enjoying his best form at Mallorca, where he has started every game since his debut on matchday 23 of the Liga Adelante against UD Las Palmas. He has notched up a total of 1,045 minutes and added six goals to his scoring account.

Both Maxi and Xisco are the second highest scorers for their sides, with six and four goals respectively. The Argentinian scored 100% of his goals within the area, while the RCD Mallorca player scored five of his six goals from that position. Both players are right-footed, however the Tenerife player scored 50% of his goals with his left foot and 50% of the former Córdoba, RC Deportivo and Newcastle United FC forward’s goals came with his right.

Maxi has had a total of 20 shots up until now, while the visiting players has had 19, eight of which were on target. The numbers are very similar, and these players could decide the game between Tenerife and Mallorca.
