Official Statement

Written denouncements that the LFP will send to the Professional Competition Committee.

Under the rules of the Real Federación Española de Fútbol, la Liga de Fútbol Profesional will every Tuesday send a letter denouncing the shouting of chants that incite violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport to the Professional Competition Committee, given that such actions are contrary to the judicial regimen put forward in the RFEF's. Disciplinary Code. This letter of denouncement will be sent each Thursday to the Antiviolence Commission. 

We also underline that the LFP has set up a mailbox to which fans attending matches can send their complaints, suggests or requests with the purpose of contributing to the fight against violence in stadiums. The email address is: viveelfutbol@laliga.es

RC Deportivo - Atlético Madrid

Throughout the course of the game different offensive messages were chanted by the home fans, identified by symbols associated with their team (scarves, shirts, flags and banners), exclusively  and predominantly coming from fans in the stand ‘Marathon Inferior’in the stadium, a group known as the ‘RIAZOR BLUES’, as identified by the banners and flags situated below their place in the ground, and on this occasion the presence of a banner bearing the slogan “JIMMY VIVE”.

 

The aforementioned chants and songs are detailed below:

 

1)    In the moments before the game and in the 92nd minute, a group of home fans, formed of approximately 600 people, located in the ‘Marathon Inferior’end of the stadium and known as ‘RIAZOR BLUES’, shouted the chant “¡ASESINOS!”, in reference to the death of a supporter of a supporter of the home side in the infamous skirmish between supporters of both sides which took place in the surrounding area of the Vicente Calderón stadium in the match between the two teams in the first half of the season. The chant was sung in chorus, coordinated and repeated, uniquely and exclusively by said group, and was not repeated by the rest of the fans in the stadium, whose behaviour was exemplary throughout the match.

 

2)    In minute 8 in the match, a group of the home team’s supporters chanted “FRENTE ATLÉTICO ASESINO!”, in reference to the group of supporters of Club Atlético de Madrid SAD known as“Frente Atlético”. The chant was sung in chorus, coordinated and repeated, uniquely and exclusively by said group, and was not repeated by the rest of the fans in the stadium, whose behaviour was exemplary throughout the match.

 

3)    In minutes 15 and 92 the same group sang “PUTA ATLETI OÉ!” in reference to the visiting team. The chant was sung in chorus, coordinated and repeated, uniquely and exclusively by said group, without it being repeated by the rest of the fans in the stadium, whose behaviour was exemplary throughout the match.

 

4)    In minute 16, a section of the aforementioned group of supporters sang “QUE PUTA ES ESPAÑA!”, to the tune of the song titled “Que Viva España”. The chant was sung in chorus, coordinated and repeated, uniquely and exclusively by said group, and was not repeated by the rest of the fans in the stadium, whose behaviour was exemplary throughout the match.

 

5)    As soon as the match finished, a section of said group of supporters sung, in reference to Club Atlético de Madrid, SAD and to the tune of the official anthem of the club, the following words “ATLETI, ATLETI, ATLÉTICO DE MADRID, MIERDA”. The chant was sung in chorus, coordinated and repeated, uniquely and exclusively by said group, and was not repeated by the rest of the fans in the stadium, whose behaviour was exemplary throughout the match.

 

In reference to the measures taken to prevent violence, the following points should be mentioned: (i) Before the match exhaustive measures were taken to prevent fans bringing in dangerous artefacts or printed material with offensive or insulting messages, above all in the gates which the “Riazor Blues”enter. (ii) Posters were put up by the access agates to the stadium citing the different actions that would lead to entry to the stadium being denied, in relation to violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport.
