Chances go begging for hosts
It was Getafe CF who had the better chances in what was an evenly matched first half. Pablo Sarabia was just inches away from finding the net with a powerful drive that Sergio Alvarez did well to turn away for a corner, while Mehdi Lacen later saw a left-footed strike flash just past the post.
A manic minute
An action-packed end to the first period could have seen either side head into the dressing room a goal to the good. For RC Celta, Theo Bongonda threatened with a header from Fabian Orellana's cross, while Alvaro Vazquez hit the side netting at the far post for the Azulones.
Goal-line clearance
Right after kick-off in the second half, Karim Yoda became Getafe's hero. After some fine work by Iago Aspas, Bongonda beat Vicente Guaita with a volley, but there was the French midfielder to keep the ball out on the goal line.
Nolito back with a bang
The Celta star made his comeback from injury last weekend as a substitute against SD Eibar, having spent two months on the sidelines with a muscle problem. He was forced to sit tight on the bench once again against Getafe, being introduced in the 58th minute and on this occasion making his mark. The Spain international tipped the scales in the 71st minute, heading home from inside the six-yard box after a corner had been flicked on. His last goal had come way back on 28 November in the 2-1 win over R. Sporting.
Celta end away drought
Eduardo Berizzo's men put paid to a four-game losing run on the road, having successively succumbed away to Malaga CF, Rayo Vallecano, UD Las Palmas and FC Barcelona. That bout of travel sickness was cured against Getafe and the three points keep the Sky Blues very much dreaming of Europe.
