The leadership party of the SD Eibar in Liga BBVA, after the first matchday of the competition, was not only celebrated between the 27,000 people of the Gipuzkoa town. Cyprus and California, where they were born the last supporters clubs from the "armero" team in recent months, also have cause of celebration and cheers for Jose Luis Mendilibar team, placed on top of the table for the first time in its history.
Eibar's fever has come to the other side of the globe. And it's just the charm and humbly given off by this team what has captivated American fans of the "Peña Eibar USA, founded in the spring of 2015. "Eibar is the ultimate underdog story and us Americans love supporting a Cinderella-type story. After the Peña was formed, more Americans who support soccer were interested in becoming a part of the Peña when learning of the Eibar story", says founder John Sager.

For this reason the Supporters Club was born, and visited Ipurua last season, where was received by Chairman Alex Aranzabal himself. "In a race to sign the biggest stars and sell the most jerseys, Eibar became the ultimate contrast in the world of football. Many English language writers picked up on the story and that is how we learned about the situation." confessed California fans.
Social networks are playing a key role in favor of LaLiga's internationalization, that encourages the exchange of views between fans and increase the number of supporters. Moreover, as the precursor of the first Official Eibar supporters club in the USA, admits that "With the BeInSport TV channel showing so many La Liga and Eibar games on USA TV this year, following and watching Eibar in the USA has never been easier".
The "armero" team has eight official supporters clubs in Spain and two more overseas. Cyprus and the United States were the first two countries to join a story that engages everyone who knows about it.
