McDonald's Virtual LaLiga eSports: stage two qualifying roundup

The McDonald's Virtual LaLiga eSports tournament was back in action, with the contestants seeking to prove they are Spain's best EA Sports FIFA 18 player on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The first online qualification tournament kicked off on 19 March, with Ferperry and I 5 I zidane 10 coming out on top, and now the results of the second qualification tournament are in. There was no shortage of excitement and once again we got to witness the gameplay of some of the LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1|2|3 eSports clubs.

On the PlayStation 4, the second stage brought us seven best-of-three knockout rounds on ArenaGG. After successfully navigating their way through the last 16, quarter-final and semi-final rounds, users AndoniiPM and JraLion10 went head to head in the final. AndoniiPM claimed victory with an aggregate score of 2-0.

On the XBOX One, five initial rounds were played, followed by the last 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals. In the final, I 5 I zidane 10 was crowned champion in his second consecutive tournament, this time dispatching gravesen_1 2-0.

The following tournament in the online phase will kick off on Thursday 29 March and will run until 2 April, and then the final qualifiers will be held from 3 to 7 April. Each qualification stage sees points awarded to the 64 best players based on their final position in the tournament.

The 16 players on each of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms who amass the most points in the online stage will book themselves a place in the final stage, which will be played in person at the Liga de Videojuegos Profesional venue in Barcelona.

The winner on each platform will be rewarded with a place in the EA Sports FIFA 18 Global Series, which will determine the sole Spanish representative to attend the FIFA eWorld Cup and battle it out to become known as the best FIFA player in the world.
