Mario Mandžukić: "I’m happy to be here"

Croatia striker Mario Mandžukić, one of the biggest stars to arrive in Liga BBVA this summer, was presented by Atlético Madrid at the Vicente Calderón on Thursday, and the player seemed extremely satisfied to be able to wear the Rojiblanco’s shirt this upcoming season.

 “I’ve come from a big club in Bayern Munich, but I’m signing for another giant in Atleti. Last season they were Spanish champions. I’m very happy to be here. I know quite a bit about the club, the players and I’m very happy to play under the coach”, were the player’s first words as an Atlético Madrid player at his presentation.

Atlético president Enrique Cerezo welcomed to Croatia international to the club. “Today we are proud to present Mario Mandžukić. He will become the focal point of our team. Mario, today a new period in your life begins, and we are sure we’ve made the right decision in signing you. You’re a footballer who perfectly matches what we’re looking for. We know you’re a winner and we’re sure that you will help us win a lot of titles. Welcome, this is your new home”.

At the end of the act, the player posed with his new number 9 shirt, and then took to the turf at the Vicente Calderón to greet the thousands of fans that had come to welcome him.

Mandžukić won’t travel on the LFP World Challenge tour that sees Atlético Madrid face San Jose Earthquakes in San Francisco, before later meeting Club América at the Estadio Azteca de México DF.
