Marcelo Romero takes charge at Malaga

Malaga CF have announced the appointment of Marcelo Romero as their new manager, a matter of hours after previous coach Juande Ramos's departure was confirmed.

Romero spent six seasons at the club during his playing days, between 2001 and 2007, and subsequently returned to La Rosaleda three years ago, serving as an assistant to first Javi Gracia and then Ramos.

The Uruguayan has already taken his first training session and will oversee his maiden match at the helm on Sunday 8 January, when Malaga face RC Celta away at Balaidos.
