Manu Del Moral puts game to bed at the Balaídos

SD Eibar overcame RC Celta 0-1 on matchday 13 of the Liga BBVA. With 16 points the Basque side remain in the safe zone in the table, while for the Celestes it was their second straight loss.

Both teams played with intensity and a desire to take the lead in the first half. In the early stages of the encounter, Gaizka Garitano’s men resisted the attacking firepower of the Galician side, though there was no shortage of chances for both sides.

For the Celestes, Hugo Mallo and Nolito had attempts, but Xabi Irureta, who defended his goal solidly, stopped the home side from opening the scoring in the first half. Saúl Berjón and Ander Capa responded but were unsuccessful in front of goal. Eibar gradually started to believe in themselves and, in the 30th minute, Manu Del Moral put his side ahead after receiving an excellent pass into the box from team-mate Mikel Arruabarrena.

After the break, Eduardo Berizzo’s side showed some of the good form of the early stages of the encounter and came close to finding the equaliser. Larrivey, Nolito and Charles tried to surprise the opposition, but they were unable to get past an Eibar who, thanks to their fighting spirit, have won the respect of all their opponents, moving into tenth place in the Liga BBVA.
