Málaga CF won 1-2 against UD Almería in one of the games corresponding to matchday 36 of the Liga BBVA. Thanks to an own goal from José Manuel Casado and a goal by Javi Guerra, the side managed by Javi Gracia is back into seventh place with 50 points. Following the defeat, Almería will have to keep fighting to ensure that they are not relegated.
The home side began the game at a very high intensity, making several attacks into the opponent’s area. The first chance came from Wellington Silva, the player who unbalanced the rival the most in the first half, in a move where he made a mockery of several opponents but was unable to shoot accurately. However, Málaga won space as time passed and took no prisoners with their first chance, going ahead after Casado directed a Nordin Amrabat shot into his own net. Despite that, Sergi Barjuan’s team were able to react on time and managed to go in at the break with the game even thanks to a great header by Thomas Partey.
After half-time, Málaga began to play at their best. It did not take long for them to get their reward and go 1-2 thanks to a goal from Javi Guerra in the 68’ minute. Although Almería fought until the final whistle to equalise, Málaga were able to defend their lead and return to seventh place.
