As the saying would have you believe, "youth is golden" and it's certainly one that those LaLiga clubs who have witnessed how their young starlets have taken the division by storm would subscribe to. We look back at some of the youngsters who have enjoyed excellent breakthrough seasons in the Liga BBVA.

The love affair that has blossomed between Real Sociedad and Mikel Oyarzabal really was a case of love at first sight. After just eight outings for La Real's B-team, Oyarzabal was handed his chance with the senior side. He opened his account against RCD Espanyol in a 5-0 away romp in a season which reaped six top-flight goals. His peach of a left foot and electric pace are the major strengths of a player who looks to have a very bright future ahead of him. Earning his first international cap with Spain was the best possible way to cap off what has been a marvellous campaign.

Mauricio Lemos is a centre-back who oozes youthful enthusiasm and assurance in equal measure. The Uruguayan played 736 minutes for UD Las Palmas, which was ample time for him to prove himself to be a highly reliable member of the Islanders' backline. Another centre-half who enjoyed an excellent debut campaign in the Liga BBVA is Jorge Mere. The youngster marshalled the R.Sporting defence with aplomb in his 25 appearances and he looks destined to command a place in the Asturians' defence for many a year to come.

The trio of Marco AsensioIñigo Lekue and Pablo Fornals this week received call-ups from Vicente del Bosque in recognition of their excellent performances throughout the 2015/16 campaign. During the course of the season, Espanyol loanee Asensio showcased his excellent vision on countless occasions and Athletic Club's Lekue proved that he's capable of doing a fine job in several positions, whilst Fornals treated the Malaga CF faithful to some delightful attacking displays. Following on from their promising first seasons, this trident are certainly worth keeping a close eye on in the coming years.

Adalberto Peñaranda  has made a real name for himself at Granada CF. At just 19, the young Venezuelan was one of the leading lights for the Andalusian outfit, with his speed, swagger and goalscoring instincts combining to make him a player of whom big things are expected. Peñaranda's fine form in his first year in the Liga BBVA - during which he notched five goals - was enough to earn him a call-up to the Venezuela squad for theCopa America 2016.
