Real Madrid host Levante UD in the last game on Sunday in matchday 27 in the Liga BBVA, a match that will test Madrid’s capacity to react after going three games without a win. The team from Valencia meanwhile head into the game in high spirits after beating SD Eibar last week thanks to goals from their in-form strikers David Barral and Kalu Uche. The visitors will also be looking for their first victory over Real Madrid since 18 September 2011.
Team news
Carlo Ancelotti’s only absentee is James Rodríguez, who is still recovering from a fractured left foot, but the Italian welcomes back Sergio Ramos from a muscular injury and Luka Modric, who came on as a substitute against FC Schalke 04 in the Champions League on Tuesday after a lengthy lay off. For Levante, defender Iván returns to the squad but Loukas Vyntra, Rafael Martins, Pedro López, Andreas Ivanschitz, Pape Diop and Jason have all been left out by Lucas Alcaraz.
View from the dugouts
Ancelotti was confident ahead of the game despite his team’s worrying form in recent weeks. "We're going to make more of an effort and sacrifice more to turn the situation around and I’m convinced that we’re going to do that", he said.
His opposite number Lucas Alcaraz meanwhile summed up the best way for his team to take something from the Bernabéu: "The players have to play as a team, stay organised when we have the ball and not suffer on the counterattack when we lose it".
