Athletic Club B 1-2 Cordoba CF
Cordoba CF returned to winning ways following the defeat to At. Osasuna on the last matchday. Florin Andone was quickest to the punch in the 19th minute. The striker, who has now netted a total of 19 goals, picked up a loose ball in the area to open the scoring. On 61 minutes, Fidel Chaves de la Torre scored the second from the penalty spot. With the game almost over, Ager Aketxe managed to peg one back as he continues his great run in front of goal. The defeat sends Athletic Club B back to the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Cordoba kept themselves in the battle for promotion.
RCD Mallorca secured a vital three points. After three consecutive games without a victory, Fernando Vazquez’s men returned to winning ways. And they did so against one of the toughest opponents in the division, R. Oviedo. A David Fernandezown goal in the 50th minute meant the three points remained at the Iberostar Estadio.
The Catalan side secured a very important point at the Martinez Valero. The deadlock was not broken until the second half, specifically in the 66th minute. David Querol made the most of some indecisive play between Jose Angel and the keeper Javi Jimenez to put UE Llagostera ahead. However, the visitors’ jubilation lasted barely 20 minutes. Five minutes from time, Sergio Leon turned executioner against his old club and levelled the scores.
Pablo Machin’s men are on the up and up. They have now gone eight consecutive games unbeaten. Kiko Olivas, in the 48th minute, and Cristian Herrera, on 71 minutes, got the goals for the Catalan club to make it two wins in a row. The outlook could not be more different for CD Mirandes. Carlos Terrazas’ men added another defeat to their collection and have only managed two points in their last four games.
Zaragoza managed to come away from Alaves with a point after they played out the whole of the second period with ten men following Emmanuele Culio's sending-off. The two sides contrived to cancel each other out on a wet afternoon in Vitoria. The most noteworthy piece of action came when the visitors were reduced to ten men on the stroke of half time after the Argentinean midfielder was shown a second yellow. Despite the home side's dominance they were unable to break the deadlock, whilst Zaragoza struggled to make any clear-cut chances as it ended all square at Mendizorroza.
Huesca claimed an important win to give themselves some breathing space in the battle to avoid the drop in the Liga Adelante. A first-half strike from Venezuelan striker, Darwin Machis, was enough to see the visitors claim all three points and climb up to 17th, leaving them three points above the relegation places. Despite having Franck-Yves Bambock sent off, Huesca managed to hang on for the victory. As for Valladolid, this defeat represents a missed opportunity to make up ground on the play-off places.
This top-of-the-table clash saw Alcorcon and Nastic share the spoils, as the Catalan outfit continue in the play-off places, two points ahead of Alcorcon. The Madrid side put themselves ahead courtesy of a tremendous Jose Gomez Campaña free-kick, but Levy Clement Madinda's strike from outside the box in the final stages claimed a point for the visitors. This latest stalemate means that Alcorcon have now drawn five of their last six.
SD Ponferradina 1-0 CD Numancia
After having gone 11 games without a win, Ponferradina claimed a vital victory to place some distance between themselves and the drop zone which came courtesy of a second-half goal from Vullnet Xhevat Basha. This triumph sees the hosts move four points clear of danger and just four off Numancia.
Almeria claimed a point from their trip to Tenerife in a game in which chances were at a real premium. The home side played over half an hour with ten men after Raul Camara received his marching orders. The draw keeps the Andalusians in the bottom three and three points from safety, whilst Tenerife slip down to 14th.
Breathtaking. This would be the best way to describe the CD Leganes performance in Albacete. With barely two minutes on the clock, Borja Lazaro had set the Madrid side on their way, before Omar doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time and Ruben Peña put the result beyond any doubt with half an hour still to play. After Alaves' draw against R.Zarazoga, this win sends Leganes top on 52 points.
