Three key points
There was no time for Getafe CF to settle at the Gran Canaria Stadium, as UD Las Palmas came racing out the traps, fully aware that only a victory would suffice in the battle to move away from the drop zone. Quique Setien's side were rewarded for their endeavour with the first goal after Willian Jose got in behind the visitors' back line.
Changes in the Getafe line-up
Fran Escriba once again turned to new options in a bid to bring Getafe's nightmare run to an end. He handed starts to Emi Buendia, Stefan and recent signing Alvaro Pereira, but the players were helpless to halt the home side.
Attacking fluidity
It was one of those games where the hosts got into their groove early on. Roque Mesa took control in the middle of the park, Jonathan Viera and Tana were tricky down each wing and Willian Jose drew the centre-backs out of position by moving into space. The islanders showed great confidence and enjoyed a relatively comfortable victory that began with a penalty conceded by Lacen, that Jonathan Viera duly tucked away.
Tana brace
Getafe found themselves 2-0 down just before half-time, although they reacted well after the break and asked questions of a defence that proved to be far more solid than usual. Tana's moment followed. The Las Palmas academy product has done his best to win Setien over through his goalscoring exploits since the new coach took charge. A great move saw the 25-year-old get away from his marker and slot home the third, before adding further gloss to the scoreline in the closing stages.
Las Palmas exact revenge
So much has changed since the sides met earlier in the season at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Getafe ran out 4-0 winners that day, but Las Palmas managed to exact revenge 19 rounds of games later.
