Current and future LaLiga projects continue to serve as an example to international football. The work being undertaken by LaLiga's integrity and security department to eradicate match-fixing irregularities in football was on the agenda at today's meeting between Alfredo Lorenzo, LaLiga's director of integrity and security, Pedro Varas, LaLiga’s integrity project manager, Esperanza Bernal-Quiros, LaLiga's head of compliance, and Sonia Carneiro and Paulo Rozeiro from the Portuguese league's legal department.

Portuguese football representatives have seen how LaLiga is working to eradicate match fixing from the game and ensure that such behaviour is reported, work which goes beyond the realms of professional football. The integrity workshops being given to youth players at every LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1I2I3 club, which will be extended to the first-team squads in January, were also discussed during the meeting held at LaLiga's headquarters. At these workshops, young players learn first-hand about the damage and dangers associated with the direct or indirect involvement in any type of betting or match-fixing. "Our aim is to clean up Spanish football and eradicate match-fixing from all levels of the game. It's mutually beneficial to collaborate with other leagues and federations to tackle and improve integrity and be a role model in this area," said Alfredo Lorenzo.

To conclude, Esperanza Bernal-Quiros spoke about how LaLiga's compliance department operates. The Portuguese football representatives took note of the initiatives started by LaLiga and some of those will be included in the integrity programme being implemented in Portuguese football. LaLiga will continue to collaborate with the Portuguese league to defend integrity in football.
