Thanks to the Champions of Spain project, the cream of Spain's athletes from sports including taekwondo, rugby and table tennis have been given the chance to showcase their talents to the rest of the world under the auspices of LaLiga. Following LaLiga World's visit to Dresden, karate has now joined this list of sports.

After a week of intense preparation, the Spanish karatekas put on an outstanding exhibition of their skills for the Real Betis delegation of players Dani Jimenez, Alex Alegria, Jose Carlos and Pedro, plus the club's director of institutional relations, Rafa Gordillo, and board member, Tomas Solano.

The Betis players were pleasantly surprised by their fellow countrymen, who showed their best moves to highlight just how good Spanish karate is right now. Betis keeper Dani Jimenez said the following of the karatekas: "Watching them live isn't the same as watching them on TV. Their speed and coordination is amazing. It was a great opportunity for us to watch the Spanish champions."

Damian Quintero, the captain of the national karate team, said after the event: "We wanted to showcase the work we do. Karate could be named an Olympic sport over the next few days and that would be a dream come true."

Spain's karate coach, Angel Arenas, expressed his thanks to LaLiga for everything they have experienced as part of this LaLiga World tour: "It's been a gift to take part in this pre-season. It's ideal and I have no words to describe it."

Fernando Sanz, LaLiga's managing director for the Middle East and North Africa, was another of the big names in attendance. "Every athlete enjoys these experiences. It's great being able to share and bring karatekas and professional football players together."
