LaLiga World is once again exhibiting the magnitude of the LFP World Challenge programme and the increasing internationalisation of Spanish football this summer. Yet more evidence of this came on Friday at the Club Uruguay, which played host to the latest instalment of the Spain Experience, a series that provides a platform for a range of companies and institutions to gather with the aim of promoting the Spain brand and growth at the global level

As part of the event in Montevideo, LaLiga gave a talk about stadium security during a panel discussion entitled Security in Football: Current Tools and Challenges. From Security to Profitability. Silvestre Jos, LaLiga's director of technology services, delivered a presentation alongside Anton Fernandez, head of security for sporting events at Everis, and Ruben Barcelo, the secretary of the Security Commission at the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF).

The talk offered an insight into LaLiga's security set-up and its ambitious project to guarantee safety and security at stadiums. "We have been developing the new technology system for the last two and a half years. It seeks not just to improve security at Spanish stadiums, but also to boost their profitability," Silvestre Jos explained.

The LaLiga director outlined the organisation's main responsibilities and the current focus of their efforts: "We have a duty to guarantee security within stadiums and to continually be evolving. The new system is aimed at improving communication between the clubs and their supporters and increasing attendance figures."

Jos went on to reveal the foundations upon which the initiative is built: "The idea is to give the clubs the tools with which to showcase everything that goes on in the stadiums. The new system features more Internet-based solutions that make use of new technologies and applications."

In his closing remarks, Jos defined LaLiga's objective as being: "To export our brand, our knowledge and our football, of which our technological advances are a part. We believe that this project represents a way of helping other countries to enhance their security procedures."

Everis's Anton Fernandez spoke of the close working relationship his organisation has maintained with LaLiga on this project: "We've been working hand in hand on a system which seeks to improve security, stadium access and ticket sales."

Ruben Barcelo, secretary of the AUF's security department, closed the seminar by expressing his gratitude to LaLiga, before revealing his ambitions for the future: "It's very significant for us that a league as professional as LaLiga should share their working practices with us. Our aim is for our stadiums to have the technology and security systems that theirs do."
