LaLiga recognised by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in China

LaLiga was yesterday in Beijing to collect the Corporate Tiger Awardfrom the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in China. This accolade recognises the work of businesses and institutions in the fields of trade, investment and business cooperation between Spain and China.

On hand to collect the award were LaLiga's country manager for China, Sergi Torrents; the minister of education and sports at the Spanish embassy in China, Jose Antonio Benedicto; and Jin Lei, the head of the China Education Association for International Exchanges (CEAIE). This award acknowledges the work carried out by LaLiga in training coaches in China. In a show of the organisation's unwavering commitment to education, nearly 40 Spanish coaches were selected to take part in a pioneering football development project within schools across the Asian country, in a programme backed by the Chinese Ministry of Education and the CEAIE. Speaking at the event, Torrents underlined how, "The project has allowed us to pass on football and LaLiga's educational values to 45,000 school children across China. We also laid on training programmes which were more technical and in line with LaLiga's methodology for over 6,000 physical education teachers. Hundreds of people have taken part in the project, including members of staff from several schools, the Ministry of Education and LaLiga."

The jury who decides on the award winners is made up of board members from the chamber, the Spanish commercial offices in China, the Spanish embassy and the consulate of Spain. The following four awards were presented at the ceremony, which is now into its fourth edition: the Corporate Dragon Award, the Corporate Tiger Award, the Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Outstanding Chinese Investment in Spain Award. In attendance at the event were representatives from CEAIE's department for international exchanges and LaLiga's partner agency, Charm.
