Passion for LaLiga continues to cross borders into every corner of the world. This time, Poland is the place chosen for a clash between the LaLiga Legends – a team of former LaLiga greats – and a side made up of Polish legends.
This very special match, which is scheduled to be played this Friday at 19:00 at the Legia Warsaw stadium, was unveiled by Fernando Sanz, LaLiga's general director for the Middle East and North Africa and head of international sport projects, alongside LaLiga Legends Fernando Morientes, Gaizka Mendieta and Francesco Coco, the Polish legends' captain, Michal Zewlakow, and Eleven Sports representative, Mateusz Swiecicki.
LaLiga's head of international sport projects highlighted the origins of the initiative: "The idea came about because we have the best teams and players in the world and what could be better than coming together for matches which promote our competition?"
Sanz also stressed the importance of these matches: "We've played in Iran and Mexico, and now it's Poland's turn. We had a great time in both countries, as did the fans there. Thanks to Eleven Sports, LaLiga's official broadcaster in Poland, our competition has a huge following here in Poland, and that makes this a great opportunity for fans to watch players that they have previously seen on TV, out on the pitch."
LaLiga ambassador, Fernando Morientes, had the following to say about the upcoming match: "We want to enjoy ourselves and entertain others." Meanwhile, his fellow ambassador, Gaizka Mendieta, encouraged fans not to miss this fixture: "I hope there are plenty of goals and that fans come out to the stadium because this is a great chance to see the LaLiga stars."
