LaLiga just keeps on making history. On this occasion, and with the assistance of FirstV1sion, the organisation becomes the first league in the world to broadcast a game with the use of wearable cameras attached to players' shirts.

Atletico Madrid Women goalkeepers Lola Gallardo and Andrea Paraluta played their part as this novel initiative became a reality at the weekend. Both players wore FirstV1sion's revolutionary camera during the first game of Angel Villacampa's side's LaLiga Women tour of Sweden in which the Rojiblancas took on Linkopings FC.

The product offers viewers a new means of experiencing football, in which they gain a first-hand feel of the game from the players' perspective. The camera and broadcasting system are incorporated within a vest, with the latter sending images to a mobile unit where they complement the existing range of cameras. This new concept has already been rolled out in other sports, such as Formula 1 and it was also used in the broadcasting of the Euroleague's Final Four, whilst ice hockey fans have also been able to experience matches through their heroes' eyes. Elsewhere, the European Handball Federation (EHF) Champions League and Spain's ASOBAL league (the country's professional handball league) have embraced the revolutionary technology ahead of the coming season.

LaLiga Women and FirstV1sion have been working for months to implement this technology in professional football. After carrying out an intensive testing program with Valencia CF and Atletico Madrid, they have created a product exclusive to women’s football, which achieves its aim of being both safe and comfortable for the players. Both LaLiga Women and FirstV1sion decided to take things further and use these cameras for the first time during Atletico Madrid Women’s tour of Sweden which is part of the LaLiga World series.

"The perspective that FirstV1sion offers will change the way we feel and experience football. To be able to put yourselves in the players’ shoes in a sport like football will change everything," stressed the CEO of FirstV1sion, Roger Antunez. Through this scheme, LaLiga takes another step forward in its commitment to technology, the new ways in which sport can be experienced, and the development of the women’s game.
