It is that time again. With another set of LaLiga Santander games having been and gone, all that remains is to reveal the LaLiga Fantasy MARCA Matchday 33 Best XI. Ganso was the standout performer in the latest round of action, at least in terms of the points he accrued (19), and so he claims the Player of the Matchday accolade.
Real Betis are the most heavily represented club this time round, with three members of the lineup: Antonio Adan, Riza Durmisi and Darko Brasanac.
Adan's place in goal was earned courtesy of his 11-point showing in Betis's 1-0 win away to RC Celta at Balaidos, in which the keeper starred in one of the moments of the weekend with his point-blank save from Theo Bongonda. Verdiblancos teammate Durmisi (13 points) forms one third of the defence in front of the Spanish goalie, which also contains Athletic Club's Aymeric Laporte (also 13) and Real Sociedad's Yuri Berchiche (14).
The Best XI features a four-man midfield on this occasion. Ganso, the aforementioned Player of the Matchday thanks to his match-winning brace for Sevilla FC against Granada CF, is accompanied by Malaga CF's Recio and Betis's Brasanac, who both chalked up 12 points. Completing the cast in the engine room is FC Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic, who netted 13 points for his excellent performance in #ElClasico, which included a fabulous goal.
Lastly, the presence of Lionel Messi (15 points) will come as no surprise after the pint-sized forward spearheaded the charge for Las Azulgranas once more, scoring two of the Catalans' goals – including a last-gasp winner – in their thrilling victory over Real Madrid. Partnering Messi up front are Villarreal CF's Cedric Bakambu and Malaga's Sandro, the Argentine's former Barça teammate, who picked up 12 and 11 points respectively.
