Another LaLiga Santander matchday has drawn to a close – the last before the international break – and the time has come to take a look at the LaLiga Fantasy MARCA Best XI.
This matchday's XI could not be more of a mixed bunch, with the presence of players from nine different teams and only Sevilla FC and Atletico Madrid contributing more than one player. The total score of this Best IX is 143 points and the Player of the Matchday is R. Betis's Junior Firpo, who played a key role in his team's victory over FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou, racking up a total of 15 points.
This matchday's Ideal XI has the R. Valladolid CF goalkeeper Jordi Masip between the sticks. The shotstopper produced a number of providential saves in his side's goalless draw against SD Eibar, earning himself 11 points.
All three defenders in the Ideal XI got on the scoresheet this matchday. Firpo, the Player of the Matchday, found the back of the net for Betis, while Gabriel Mercado was on cue for Sevilla against RCD Espanyol (11 points) and Theo Hernandez came up with the goods for Real Sociedad against Levante UD (14 points).
The midfield is composed of five players. Atletico staged an impressive comeback to overcome Athletic Club 3-2 with goals from Rodrigo (15 points) and Thomas (13 points). Valencia CF beat Getafe 1-0 away with Daniel Parejo (14 points) scoring the only goal of the game, while Brais Mendez (13 points) scored for RC Celta against Real Madrid. The standout performers in the middle of the pitch this matchday also include another Sevilla player, Ever Banega (14 points).
The front line of the Ideal XI is led once again by the Barcelona's iconic Argentine, Leo Messi (13 points), after netting twice against Betis. He is accompanied by Iñaki Williams, who also scored a brace for Athletic against Atletico, although that would not be enough to save his team from defeat.
