LaLiga, Spain’s top professional football league, held their first public football event at the Hysan Place in Causeway Bay on Monday with Olympic Badminton Champion Carolina Marin as part of their on-going effort to boost the visibility and profile of Spanish sports around the world. Alongside Carolina, Spanish former LaLiga player Roberto Losada,and Hong Kong Women’s National Team player Fu Chiu Man, were also invited to share their knowledge and skills with a group of local junior players in a football clinic and meet and greet with fans and public.
LaLiga is not only recognized as the best football competition in the world but also as an important organization for promoting football. Both LaLiga and Carolina Marin are two outstanding ambassadors of the Brand Spain. Additionally, LaLiga are committed to promoting fair competition and they completely reject violence. They also promote women’s football with the aim of extending the values of respect and transparency among the competitions in the future.
The mission to raise the profile of Spanish sport and enhance the popularity of LaLiga around the world, lies with Iván Gómez, International Communications Manager for Asia. LaLiga revealed the brand’s strategies and expansion plans in Hong Kong. "Over the years, LaLiga have been increasingly noticed globally and have experienced exponential growth in terms of both performance and quality delivery to audiences around the world," he said. "Football is so popular in Hong Kong, and the goal of LaLiga is to continue growing in a market like this. We must ensure that the number of followers continues to grow and consolidate us as the world's leading football league. Seeing this potential, we consider Hong Kong as a crucial market for LaLiga."
As part of LaLiga’ s effort to boost the visibility and profile of Spanish sports, Carolina Marin will be carrying the flag for Spanish sports in countries all over the world. Carolina Marin has always publicly acknowledged that she is a great soccer fan. Today, Carolina shared her excitement at meeting Hong Kong junior players and fans as the ambassador.“I am very excited to visit Hong Kong again as LaLiga ambassador as there is a great deal of passion for and talent for football here,” Carolina added.
Carolina Marin won her first Olympic gold medal at Rio de Janeiro in 2016, She will also be participating in the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2017,which are scheduled to take place on November21-26 at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
"Carolina Marin has won numerous world-known competitions and awards, and fires passions around the world. Caroline Marin and LaLiga are committed to promoting the Spanish sporting spirit. We should promote the name of Spain together,” Iván Gómez said.
LaLiga aims to promote the values of teamwork, hard work, leadership, reliability, responsibility and respect, helping other sports and athletes through their respective federations. "Our wish is for the sport-viewing experience to be a unique one, which enables fans to enjoy maximum coverage," he added.
During the event, Carolina Marin was joined by the former LaLiga football player Roberto Losada and Hong Kong National Women’s Team player Fu Chiu Man, to coach the local junior youth players from G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College offering invaluable advice and football technique. Carolina joined Losada and Fu Chiu Man to cheer on fans participating at the Goal Kick Challenge, which brought the event to a climax.
