Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, and Jorge Perdomo, the president of the Division Mayor del Futbol Colombiano (Dimayor), the body responsible for organising Colombia's football leagues, signed a collaborative agreement in Frankfurt (Germany) today. It extends for four years and will see the two institutions share their knowledge and experience relating to a range of issues, including anti-violence, entry control, the administration of audiovisual rights and player transfers.
Through this agreement, both LaLiga and Dimayor will lay the foundations for future collaboration in terms of organising men's and women's friendly football matches and tournaments.
Furthermore, LaLiga and Dimayor will make the most of their partnership to organise seminars and forums in both Spain and Colombia covering a variety of topics which have a bearing on football, including integrity, security, match-fixing, innovation and development in football, corporate social responsibility, ticketing and entry control, and fostering competition. A highlight of the agreement is the intention to strengthen and develop women's football, especially the recently created Colombian professional women's league. The agreement also includes the creation of training programmes aimed at players, coaches and referees, as well as work at grassroots level.
The initiative forms part of LaLiga's ongoing commitment to strengthen international ties with a range of football and other sports organisations. Leagues in countries such as Nigeria, Bolivia, Japan, Ecuador and the Solomon Islands have expressed an interest in the working methods which LaLiga has implemented in Spanish football in various administrative and strategic areas, both nationally and internationally.
