Team News:

Malaga CF: Bakary Kone, Zdravko Kuzmanovic, Recio, Sandro, Juanpi and Youssef En-Nesyri (all injured); Roberto Rosales (suspended)

Real Betis:  Jose Carlos and Joaquin (both injured); Nahuel and Cristiano Piccini (both suspended)

Match Facts:

Malaga CF (14th, 26 pts)  - Last week's 2-1 win at home to UD Las Palmas was the club's first and only victory in the eight league games they have contested under Marcelo Romero.

- Charles has come to life and is suddenly on song. The number 9 has hit two goals in his last three appearances, in the process tripling his total for the season, having only previously notched once in nine LaLiga matches.

- Malaga have scored the second-most goals from set pieces in LaLiga Santander this term (15), behind only Real Madrid (16).

Betis (15th, 24 pts)  - With the Verdiblancos, it is a matter of all or nothing when they play away: they are one of only two sides in the division – Real Sociedad are the other – who have yet to draw on the road in the Spanish top flight this term (W2 L8).

- Like their opponents this matchday, Betis are also set-piece specialists. Victor Sanchez del Amo's charges have bagged 13% of their goals from direct free-kicks, the highest percentage in LaLiga this season.

- "We have extra motivation going into the clash with Malaga, because we're struggling away from home and we want to put that right," the Betis boss said ahead of this all-Andalusian affair. The Madrilenian tactician also made a point of praising his players for their efforts, insisting that they have deserved more than they have got lately: "The team are performing a lot better than the results suggest."
