Rayo Vallecano and Real Sociedad waved goodbye to the 2014-15 Liga BBVA season with an entertaining game in Vallecas, with the Basque side taking the three points in the end, winning 4-2.
Neither side had much to play for and the opening minutes were fairly uneventful. However, the match was turned on its head inside two crazy minutes, as Carlos Vela and then Chory Castro scored to seemingly put the Basques on their way to victory. However, Rayo dug deep in search of a way back into the game. First Adrian Embarba hit the crossbar and then Alberto Bueno sent a free-kick just wide of goal. The hosts got one back just before the break when Bueno tapped home from inside the six yard box.
The script did not change much in the second half, as Rayo kept searching for an equaliser, which they found in the 64th minute, with Jorge Morcillo heading home from a corner to make it 2-2. As is in their nature, Paco Jémez’s side went looking for the winner, but La Real killed the game off in two minutes, thanks to goals from Imanol Agirretxe and then Gorka Elustondo. Both sides tried to score again in the closing minutes, but the scoreboard stayed as it was.
