Don't take your eyes off him, because Kevin-Prince Boateng, UD Las Palmas's star summer signing, is always box-office material. The flamboyant 29-year-old is eager to make an impact in the middle of the park, but has already done so off the field of play. Over 5,000 fans flocked to see his official unveiling and the excitement hit fever pitch.
Boateng's name trended on social media when his arrival was announced and none other than club legend Juan Carlos Valeron was there at Gran Canaria Airport to offer him a warm welcome when he touched down in Las Palmas.

KPB, as he is often nicknamed, has an interesting backstory. Born in the German capital of Berlin, he rose through the ranks at local club Hertha BSC, whom he joined at the age of seven. After making his debut as a teenager, the middle Boateng (he is the half-brother of Bayern Munich defender Jerome, while their other sibling is a hip-hop star) was quickly snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur, after which he moved on to Portsmouth, Schalke and AC Milan. His most successful period came while in Italy, but his career has stalled somewhat as of late and he has pitched up in the Canary Islands itching to rediscover his old magic.

The Ghana international – he qualifies to represent the African country through his father – has always been an attack-minded midfielder, although he has never been shy about putting his foot in either. If he can come close to finding his top form, he is sure to be a key figure for Las Palmas this term, as well as among their leading scorers. Either way, given his colourful character, you can guarantee that there will not be a dull moment when he is involved. The Kevin-Prince Boateng show has commenced and long may it continue!
