FC Barcelona announced the agreement to extend the contract of the club's left back, Jordi Alba, on Tuesday morning.
The Spanish international, who joined los azulgranas from Valencia CF at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, has extended his contract until 30 June 2020, meaning he will have spent eight seasons with the Catalan giants.
Alba, whose previous contract ran until 2017, made 27 Liga BBVA appearances with Barcelona and scored once. Additionally, he surpassed the 2300 minutes of playing time he accumulated during the previous campaign in the Spanish topflight. The defender won the Liga BBVA and the Copa del Rey titles this season with the Catalans, and will be looking to clinch his first ever UEFA Champions League trophy this Saturday against Juventus.
The signing of the new contract, which will include a €150 million buy-out clause, will take place over the next few days according to the club’s official website.
