LaLiga's main broadcaster in China, PPTV is set to launch its LaLiga Santander coverage on 19 August with the clash between Malaga CF and At. Osasuna, followed by the RC Deportivo v SD Eibar game. LaLiga president Javier Tebas was in attendance as PPTV - who are set to broadcast LaLiga Santander games until the 2019/20 season - unveiled their coverage plans for the new campaign at a ceremony held in Shanghai. Speaking at the event, Tebas commented that: "PPTV represents a key partner for us. We seek companies who are prepared to offer Spanish football good coverage and PPTV does just that. I'm sure that this relationship will see us grow stronger together. Thanks to PPTV, Spanish football will receive its best ever coverage in China."

The current importance of the game in China and the great progress that has been witnessed in recent years have seen the Chinese market become a major opportunity for LaLiga: "China is vital for us. Along with Spain, it's our most important market and that's why we've got a specific strategy in place. For three years now our match scheduling has ensured that Chinese viewers are able to watch Spanish football. This year sees us launch new kick-off times, which coincide with peak viewing times in China," declared Tebas.
Alongside PPTV, Guangdong Satellite, Chongqing Satellite and Qinghai Satellite
will be tasked with ensuring that LaLiga Santander games are made available to viewers throughout China. Jaume Roures from Mediapro and former LaLiga star and current ambassador, Gaizka Mendieta took their places alongside Tebas at the ceremony. The ex-Valencia CF and FC Barcelona man shared his expectations of what he anticipates will be a fiercely competitive season that's high on quality: "This year we'll see a more competitive division. In addition to Real Madrid and Barcelona there are other teams that are ready to really compete. There are some excellent games in store."
