It ended all square between Granada CF and Sevilla FC after a match in which Diego Mainz was the hero and the villain, after first putting his team in front before scoring an own goal. The 1-1 draw on matchday 32 of the Liga BBVA means both sides will be desperate to win their games next weekend.

Granada's urgent need to put points on the board was evident on the pitch, where Abel Resino's men played with plenty of ambition and hunger. Sevilla struggled to get into the game and, despite their dominance during the early stages of the first half, they went into the break with a one goal deficit as a result of Diego Mainz putting Granada in front in the 16' after receiving the ball from the left wing.

Things heated up after the restart. Carlos Bacca and Grzegorz Krychowiak had the clearest chances for Sevilla, but Isaac Success and Fran Rico also continued to keep Sergio Rico busy in the visitors' goal. However, a Aleix Vidal cross intended for Stéphane Mbia resulted in an equaliser after Mainz accidently knocked the ball into the back of his own net. The setback meant that Granada had to sit back deeper than they would have liked and, although they managed to hold out to take a point, their need for good results continues in order to climb away from the lower end of the division. This result means Sevilla remain fifth, just out of the UEFA Champions League places.
