Villarreal CF continue on their LFP World Challenge tour of Australia. Before setting off for Brisbane, where they will play their second LaLiga World fixture, the Castellón team enjoyed a day off in the tourist location of Gold Coast City, 70 kilometres south of the capital of Queensland.
On their arrival, they were received by Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate, who gave a fan’s welcome to Marcelino’s men. Against the backdrop of the magnificent Surfers Paradise beach, the city official – decked out in sports gear and pleased to be able to pull on the Villarreal shirt – didn’t hesitate to take part in a few keepy-uppies on the sand with several members of the squad.
Tate expressed his delight at the visit of Villarreal CF and LaLiga. "I can see that the guys are very happy here, enjoying the beach and the surf", he explained. "I hope that they enjoy it and remember our friendship here at Gold Coast".
