Real Betis Balompié had a tough first game in Liga Adelante against CE Sabadell FC, but saw off the Catalan side 2-3 to take the three points.
The first game of the season for both sides got underway with the home team controlling things. They dominated possession and forced Antonio Adán into action. However the domination did not last long, and Álvaro Cejudo gave the visitors the lead with a left-footed effort. Betis then doubled their advantage seconds later as Javier Matilla beat keeper David De Navas.
The second half was played largely to the same script until the final moments. Despite having a considerable advantage, (0-2), Julio Velázquez’s side continued to attack. Rubén Castro and Jorge Molina were impressive, and it was the Canary Island-born forward who made it 0-3 with a long range pile-driver.
When it seemed as if all was over, Édgar and Tamudo cut back the difference for the home side, however time ran out and Betis held on for a 2-3 win.
