UD Las Palmas convincingly beat AD Alcorcón (4-1) on matchday 5 of the Liga Adelante. The Canary Islands side remain the championship leaders, while the visitors fell to their second defeat in a row.

In the early stages of the encounter the home team were already showing signs of the danger they would create at the Gran Canaria Stadium with a shot from Nauzet Alemán that failed to find the net. Alcorcón responded with a strike from David Rodríguez, but goalkeeper Raúl Lizoain was alert and prevented José Bordalás’ men from taking the lead. It was precisely the midfielder Nauzet who opened the scoring, though the goal fest was still to come.

In the second half, the Gran Canaria stadium came alive with three goals in three minutes. Sergio Araujo beat Falcón with an impressive shot in the 67th, but two minutes later Óscar Plano closed the gap, giving the visitors a chance to get back in the match. The Canary Islands crowd was still recovering from the shock when, in the next move, Araujo, the top scorer in the Liga Adelante, scored his seventh goal to virtually seal the match. After some great team play, Momo made it 4-1, confirming a big win that allows his team to remain the Liga Adelante leaders.
