Getafe lose out at Ipurua

SD Eibar downed Getafe CF2-1  to secure three valuable points in matchday 18 of Liga BBVA, allowing the home side to move up to eighth. Meanwhile the visitors are looking over their shoulder.

Eibar showed their solidity in the first half. The Madrid side attacked with gusto however they could not find a way past Xabi Irureta. On the stroke of half time, and with the play divided between both sides, a piece of quality from Manu del Moral, against his old club, saw Eibar take the lead.

In the second half, Getafe were made to defend as Eibar pushed on. It was a lapse in concentration at the back that saw Gaizka Garitano's men take control of the game as Ander Capa doubled his side's lead seven minutes after the restart. However, Quique Sánchez Flores's side did not give up, and 10 minutes from the end Diego Castro halved the deficit with a nicely worked team move. As it transpired, it was too little too late, and try as they might Getafe were unable to get the win the so desperately craved.
