Gaizka Mendieta shines at FIB

He is more commonly remembered for his performances on the football pitch and his refined, unmistakeable style. His unerring crosses always caused countless problems for the opposition. His nerveless execution of penalties will live long in the memory of all supporters. Gaizka Mendieta’s exceptional ability to put the ball exactly where it had to go will now be eternally remembered by "Los Planetas".

A performance that will be forever remembered by everyone who attended the FIB (Benicassim International Festival) will be that of the former Basque footballer. Late on Saturday evening he demonstrated that his talents stretch beyond quality football as he took to the stage during the rendition of "Un buen dia", picking up a guitar to play this beautiful song which has him as the star.

"He salido de la cama, he puesto la tele y había un partido, y Mendieta ha marcado un gol realmente increíble" (“I got out of bed, put on the TV and there was a match, and there was Mendieta scoring a really incredible goal”) is one line from "Los Planetas". In a moment where the midfielder combined his two big passions; football and music, the crowd lifted the roof off as they realised the man on the guitar was also the star of the song. One more time, the player from Bilbao scored an incredible goal.
