Four more into the quarterfinals

The are four more teams in the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey: Getafe CF, Athletic Club, Villarreal CF and Sevilla FC all sealed their place in the next round of the competition. They join Málaga CF and RCD Espanyol who made it through on Tuesday.

Getafe CF qualified thanks to a second half goal from Álvaro Vázquez. Their first leg tie with UD Almería had ended 1-1, and this win was Quique Sánchez Flores's first back at Getafe.

Meanwhile, Athletic Club, who won their first leg 2-4 against Celta Vigo, had a relaxed first half. However, after the restart, Celta narrowed the deficit thanks to an own goal from Xabier Etxeita in 49' and on 61' Fabián Orellana scored a penalty to make it 0-2. The result stayed as it was, and the side from Bilbao's performance in Galicia saw them advance on away goals.

The Anoeta saw a game full of goals and excitement right to the end. Villarreal took the lead after 27 minutes thanks to Gerard Moreno. Shortly before the break, Carlos Vela latched onto a Sergio Asenjo save to tap home the rebound for 1-1. After the restart both sides had their chances, and it was Giovani dos Santos who put the visitors ahead again. David Moyes's men did not give up, and two minutes later were level thanks to Esteban Granero. In the end, the side from Castellón went through thanks to their win in the first leg.

Sevilla FC and Granada CF closed the day's play and Unai Emery's men took the spoils 4-0. The home side dominated from the off, and in-form Kevin Gameiro was the standout player. The forward scored twice and was a menace throughout, while Iago Aspas and Denis Suárez got the others.
