Evan Dimas enjoyed the magic of St George's Day in Barcelona, or Sant Jordi as it is known locally. This festival has long been celebrated annually on 23 April, commemorating the date of the death in 303 AD of St George, who is the patron saint of Catalonia among other places, and it is traditional for red roses and books to be exchanged as gifts.

From the 19th-century Catalan cultural revival (Renaixença) onwards, Sant Jordi took on even more importance as part of Catalonia's cultural calendar. It is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive days of the year in the city, which from the early morning becomes a sea of flowers and people, who stroll the streets and give books and roses to their friends, family members and partners.

Dimas kicked off his Sant Jordi experience at RCD Espanyol's very own flower stall, which was the starting point for a route through the city alongside Xavier Gimenez, the club's director of external relations, who filled him in further about the festival and the origins of its traditions.

"The city really looks more beautiful than ever and it's amazing to see. Everyone is smiling out on the street; there's a good vibe in the air and you can tell that it's a really special day," the Indonesian youngster commented about the celebrations.

Evan Dimas is the first player selected to take part in the LaLiga Global project, which promotes activities to develop LaLiga's international brand, including supporting stand-out local footballers from various different countries by giving them an opportunity to hone their skills in the best possible environment.

Through this project, LaLiga is aiming to support the development of young talents in several countries throughout the world, while placing special emphasis on future gems. Dimas is the first of many players who will participate and visit different major clubs in Spain to get to know their working methods.
