Esteban Suárez received the award for Best Goalkeeper in Liga Adelante thanks to his standout displays last season with UD Almería. The veteran took the prize ahead of Manu Herrera (Elche CF) and Javi Jiménez (Levante UD and Real Murcia CF).
"It is an honour. I'm not really one for individual awards, but it is an honour. I hope to really enjoy it. I have a few years under my belt now and I do not know how long this will last. The secret is to work hard and enjoy your profession. I hope to be here again next year, even as a guest. I am a football man and I am very proud to continue doing well at my club", explained the veteran goalkeeper.
The 38 year-old from Avilés has good pedigree in the Spanish game, having played for 15 seasons as a professional. He came through the ranks at Real Oviedo, making his first team debut in 1997/98 against Real Sociedad de Fútbol in Liga BBVA. Following that, he was the number one choice at the Asturian outfit for four more years. Since 2002 Club Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC, RC Celta de Vigo and UD Almería make up his list of teams.
Esteban carries on demonstrating his quality and experience as a goalkeeper. In the 2012/13 season he was a key figure in Almería’s promotion to Liga BBVA. The goalkeeper played 42 times in Liga Adelante, plus four more in the play-offs without missing a minute for the Andalusia side.
