UD Almería and Córdoba CF met for the first time in the Spanish top flight. It was an even game that finished 1-1, as both sides looked to push on having taken only one point from their first two games.
Almería starts the stronger, and caused Juan Carlos Martín problems, eventually scoring the game's first goal. Ximo Navarro centred and Édgar Méndez swept home his first ever goal in Liga BBVA. After this the visitors woke up, and Fede Cartabia levelled things up, notching his second consecutive strike since joining from Valencia on loan.
Francisco Rodríguez's side started the second half with the same intensity as the first, and had their chances to go ahead again. New arrival Nabil Ghilas missed a guilt-edged chance to make it 1-2, but he could not finish. The match was open right until the end, however the physical effects of such an intense game took their toll and the score line remained 1-1.
