FRI 21.10.2016

During the General Assembly held on Friday morning, the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) reacted to the decision taken by the UEFA Executive Committee in relation to club competitions in Europe. As such, once the period of notice has transpired, the EPFL has decided to terminate the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) previously in effect between the two organisations. The document shall cease to be valid on 15 March 2017.

Following this decision, a new stage will begin in which the EPFL will attempt to negotiate a new agreement with UEFA to be presented at the next EPFL General Assembly on 31 March 2017. This period of time will allow UEFA to make all of the necessary preparations for the Congress which it will hold in April 2017.

The decision taken at this Friday's assembly received the support of 22 of the 23 leagues represented at the EPFL General Assembly, with the only dissenting vote cast by Italy's Serie A.
