The Association of European Professional Football Leagues held its General Assembly on Saturday in the ‘Auditori 1899’ of the Camp Nou in Barcelona. The meeting was presided over by EPFL chairman Frédéric Thiriez, Liga de Fútbol Profesional president Javier Tebas and Georg Pangl, general secretary of the EPFL.
The Assembly was used to debate a range of issues including the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, to take place in 2022. The representatives of the European leagues also discussed the regulation of the third-party ownership of players’ economic rights (TPO). A further item on the meeting’s agenda was the social dialogue to establish minimum requirements applicable to European professional football player contracts.
