The world's most eagerly-anticipated game in conjunction with a unique experience. Movistar+ and Samsung, in collaboration with LaLiga, are to broadcast El Clasico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in an immersive virtual reality format on 2 April. It is the first time that it will be possible to view a live sporting event of these characteristics using VR technology. Simply put on a pair of Samsung Gear VR glasses, and experience an unforgettable 90 minutes courtesy of this trial broadcast by Movistar+ and Samsung.

Samsung Gear VR offers all the excitement of being at the stadium. The spectator can take charge of their own El Clasico viewing experience, choosing, with their eyes, their desired viewpoint from which to enjoy the match at any given time. A VR application generates a VIP box located in a privileged area of the Camp Nou.

Viewers will be able to enjoy the game as if they were there and will be given the chance to switch virtually between three viewpoints via different cameras. On top of that, there is the possibility of choosing to watch the game from the central stand or enjoy the proceedings at pitch level from behind the goals, up close and personal with the players.

From the central camera the spectator will be able to enjoy two simultaneous views of the match: from the perspective of a spectator located in the central stand and from that of a virtual videowall broadcasting a conventional view of the game via Movistar+, whilst offering replays of its key moments. They will also be able to check on team news, line-ups, and the scoreline by simply looking down at the bottom of our virtual VIP box.

However, that is not all, because the upcoming Clasico game can also be enjoyed up close in Ultra High Definition (UHD) on Movistar+. That will be in Movistar's flagship stores in Madrid and Barcelona, but also for Movistar+ clients who sign up to their fibre optic television deal (both 30 and 300 megabytes), or are signed up to any package that includes CANAL+ Partidazo HD, and have a Samsung UHD compatible Smart TV with "Movistar+ Ready" functionality.

In doing so, Movistar+, which made November's El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu the first live event ever to be broadcast in 4K in Spain, renews and expands on its commitment to cutting-edge technology.
