Granada seize the initiative
The home side, brimming with confidence following their 1-0 away win at Riazor, grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the opening stages and had the best of the attacking play. Isaac Success was the most active member of the Granada team and proved to be a constant menace for the Sporting back line.
Little to separate the two
This was always expected to be extremely even game. The Asturian side were situated a single point above their opponents heading into the match on Thursday afternoon, and the predictions came to fruition out on the field of play. Both teams worked hard to prevent their opponents from taking the lead, leading to an even contest in which the deadlock would not be broken until after the interval.
El-Arabi doesn’t miss from the spot
The Moroccan striker made history for Granada on the last matchweek against Deportivo when he became the highest scorer in the club’s history in the Liga BBVA, and he was on cue again against Sporting. He showed off his specialty once again, converting a penalty to make it three out of three from the spot this season.
Success shows his quality
The Nigerian striker was on fine form in the clash at the Nuevo Los Carmenes. He netted his fifth of the campaign to make it 2-0 and give his side some breathing room, after getting on the end of a clearance in the six-yard box which he just needed to prod home. The win sees the Andalusian outfit move onto 26 points and leapfrog Sporting in the league table.
